Odanon, Children of Garukavar

Garukavar, the god of destruction, has created many lesser gods and beings over time. These are called the Odanon. Twenty of them work under his command and are considered 'chaos'. Another four have strayed from this rule. Though they do not precisely go against him, they have chosen a life void of the duty they were supposed to be born with. Either way, the children of the gods do not particularly like to interfere with the affairs of mortals, though some of the neutral Odanon tend to aid those who worship them.

Some of the Odanon have children that are not considered to be Odanon. This is because an Odanon also refers to that figure's role and level of divine blood. A child of an Odanon who has taken on a normal mortal life and has little percentage of divine blood is not considered to be an Odanon.

Raildon, Shyokro, and Gorenku

See The Beasts.
The Three Beasts of Garukavar, also called the Hounds (as the Dutri refers to them as "loyal dogs"), are Raildon, Shyokro, and Gorenku. They breathe ice, fire, and lightning, respectively. Raildon and Shyokro were the first things that Garukavar created, according to the Dutri. Gorenku, though not a part of the original pair, transformed the duo into a dangerous trinity. They all share a similar appearance, and they have been likened to a man that is half dragon, if such a being was to exist. They are of massive proportion, with hides of solid scales and backs of inpenetrable armour. Their bodies are covered with spikes and spines and their horns are like those of a goat. Though they walk in two legs, nothing else about them is humanlike; they have not even been known to speak. They have even been referred to as "wingless dragons" because their reputation and alleged power as the original monsters is so great.

Votorimin

See Votorimin.

The creation of Votorimin was Garukavar's way of tainting the human race. The first humans, born through Renin's power, were Votorimin's first and primary targets. He went to each of the first eight humans and tempted each one. Each one also succumbed, and as a consequence, all humans thereafter grow increasingly weaker in every way with each generation. Each of the eight tempted had children, and each one died. The list on Votorimin's page describes the circumstance of each. The poisonous consequences of their mistakes spread to their offspring.

Votorimin himself as been often labelled the shadow elemental; his connection with above-human mental prowess has led people to believe he has psychic power. Besides shadow magic being inevitably destructive, having its energy drawn from Votorimin plants a further degree of judgement upon any shadow mage. The Carson Institute doesn't teach it, because it comes from an Odanon: It has no good purpose in the world. Many scholars believe that The Enemy and Votorimin are the same being, mostly because of what the Dutri states. The Order of Dualkedor also enforce this as fact. If it is, it means that Votorimin also commands every monster of Garukavar to attack humans however he wishes.

According to the Dutri, Votorimin appears as a twisted figure with black claws, a red crest of feathers, and dark eyes. It also says he wields a blade which once belonged to Lord Renin. This is believed to be the blade that Renin used to kill Karomaroc. He then preceeded to supervise Garukavar's creation of monsters, and then began to organise them into armies to attack mankind. Jadon, known as a visual prophet, visualised Votorimin to be clad in powerful armour, with a cloak that turns to smoke at the ends, and a crest of red feathers atop his ominous helmet. He painted Votorimin thrusting his shadow sword into the stomach of a soldier not even Jaron knows the identity of.

Yasrantia

In the Dutri, Yasrantia's role is clear: she decides when it is time for somebody to die a natural death and whether or not their soul is allowed to pass into Adumbra where peace awaits (verse 15). She is bound to Votorimin's word, and thus to the word of Garukavar, who is bound by the laws of Forganad. Many fear her because of her great power and her authority -- she can take a life without a word murmured -- but she in truth is more loyal to Garukavar's middle and just mind than to anyone or anything else. He and She (see below) follow Yasrantia's word, and as they are often present in the moon and sun, they are often the ones to display omens in the heavens concerning an approaching death. Sometimes, they are the ones to do the killing.

Nevertheless, many assassins do their work under her name, looking for signs in the sky or anywhere around them concerning whether to take a job or not. If the signs are good, completing the offered task will please Yasrantia. If the signs are bad, the person is asking for a greedy and selfish thing to be done; something not in the best interest of the whole.

He and She

See He and She.

He and She are two powerful Odanon with no defined names. The royal Hireos used to call them Tag and Khag, which basically translate to him and her in Manamor, though the Hireos could not speak the language themselves. He is often said to be present in the moon and She in the sun. It is thus assumed that He prefers the night and coolness and rest and She prefers the day and energy and warmth. He has created two Odanon from his material; Buroba and Tokjalyo. Buroba quickly turned neutral but Tokjalyo became one of the most feared Odanon, gaining names like the Demon Lord or the Shadow Lord because of his cunningness and malice. She has also created two, but not in the same manner. Somewhere in their existences, She laid eyes on L'orn, a reserved magical Odanon and creation of Gorenku, and She loved him. She and L'orn are the only two Odanon to be opposite gender "partners" in any sense of the word. Together, they created two lesser Odanon: Kyn and Rak. Both are significantly less impressive in power and form than He's creations, most likely due to the differences in their creation.

Tokjalyo

Known as the Lord of Devils, the Shadow Lord, Demon Lord, and one time, as Lord Katahedra, Tokjalyo is quite the symbol of the weakness of mankind. He plots and schemes in his bitter ways and his arrogance, skill, and mercilessness in combat made him a common villain of children's stories. He is the father of many Templars, and is the ultimate creator of all Odanon Templars. He is the one who personally visits confused and malicious people in their sleep and offers them positions in his order. He takes orders from either Votorimin or The Enemy.

Around the time of the death of Lord Maharch of Belynsia, He created Tokjalyo. Tokjalyo took the form of a human in 3598, called himself Katahedra, and entered Phedailin to prove to the king that he was worthy of being Belynsia's new ruler. As Tokjalyo was not human, his fighting prowess and intellect impressed the king greatly, and Tokjalyo, under the name of Lord Katahedra, was appointed as the second lord of Belynsia. Of course, the king did not know it was Tokjalyo, for an Odanon would never be given such authority.

Lord Katahedra made many changes to Belynsia. He expanded its border northward into Jevithem, claiming by force what is now the mountains just south of Jevithem's castle. He also erected his own magical institute and put a mysterious figure known as Acronda, who was later thought to be Taipan in a different body. Acronda taught the knights to use shadow magic, increasing their strength significantly. Lord Katahedra stopped attending the council meetings in Duracia and, upon slaying a messenger of the king, he found a great force marching against him. Eventually, after the long and bloody Katahedra's War, he was defeated by Sir William who was wielding a spear called Rushnukvan. Tokjalyo was described as being pulled into the sky by lightning, but is still believed to be lurking out of sight, plotting through Templars and looking for a gap to enter human systems and corrupt them once again.

Murluron

See The Darkness . Born in 1166BD
If one has not heard of the Black Whale, one must open any book on the history of Riiga and read it. Murluron, also known as the Black Whale, is one of the most terrifying and powerful Templars and Odanon. He attacked and destroyed almost all of the temples and surrounding lands in the year 0 (known as The Darkness), killed both Renin and Ernamin -- as well as many hundreds of others, and he had a source of power that none save Tokjalyo knew or understood. He was sealed away under the ocean in the year 0 by Ilertav. When he was angered, he would take the form of a great black whale-like creature and fly through the skies, raining down fiery wrath on anything beneath him.

Bartyl

Born in 154AL
Bartyl is the Black Demon and brother to Murluron. He is a man who wears cloaks of shadow and when he fights, he moves something like a bolt of lightning. It is said that when he transforms into his inhuman form, he takes the appearance of a dreadful nightmare. He is the main Templar of Central and most other Templars report to either him or his sister, Pandora. He often gets captured by The Guards and imprisoned until he feels like escaping, though, around the year 950AL, he was chained in enchanted chains in the process of being captured. These chains were apparently forged by Daesdikhin and they sealed his power away. The key is kept somewhere in the Headquarters in Lyte.

Kymakikij

Born around 190AL

Pandora

See Black Dragon. Born in 433AL
Pandora is the Black Dragon, and is another powerful figure that has leaked into the fairytales told to children. She, like her two brothers, is able to change her form into something vastly more powerful, and it goes without saying that she has the ability to turn herself into a great dragon of black hide. Though very few have witnessed this winged form, many who know of her know of this form as well. As a human figure, she is quiet and cunning, but said to have quite a short temper. She often ends up distracting The Guards so that Bartyl may escape from whatever prison he is held in.

Kyn

Born in 633AL
Kyn is the son of She and L'orn, and he is also Rak's twin brother. Kyn prides himself in being Riiga's best assassin. He refuses to speak (though it's believed he's capable of speech) but only talks to his sister, or so legends say. He wields a dai-katana with a diamond tip and can use it with lethal accuracy. He does put himself up for hire, he demands enormous amounts of pay, though it's almost guaranteed that the job will be done with utmost professionalism. What he does with the money is not known. His hideout is also unknown. He's either there or he's not. Besides his sister and L'orn, he does not deal with other Odanon or even Hireos. He dwells among the common mortals so that he is always proven the strongest. It's been assumed that he is actually not very strong compared to most Odanon.

Taipan

Born in 1106AL. Member of the Twilight Blades
Taipan has been the assigned leader of the Twilight Blades since about 1110AL, not long after he was created by an Odanon named Kyn. In turn, Taipan made for himself three powerful bodyguards: Scarab, Stag, and Python. Though the Templars have been meddling in the affairs of the East for many years before, Taipan's birth and the founding of the Twilight Blades has enabled the Templars' influence to be more direct, as all blame went to this sub-order, instead of the Templars. Taipan is a bold and devious magician who has many dealings with the noble family in east Trelinia. He has staring red eyes and a rather youthful appearance with long silver hair.

Python

Born in 1155AL. Member of the Twilight Blades
Python is one of Taipan's subordinates and creations. He is another magician who does not show his skin, as his face is shrouded in a hood and all the rest of him is covered. He is a master of illusions, though he does know many kinds of elemental magic. Not much more is known about him, as he does not reveal anything about himself.

Scarab

Born in 1155AL. Member of the Twilight Blades
Scarab is one of Taipan's subordinates and creations. He is a large and bald man with a scarred body and deep frown. He has a kind of magic that deteriorates the spirit and weakens the body, though recovery is often possible after much healing attention. Aside from this, he can fight very well both with and without a weapon.

Stag

Born in 1155AL. Member of the Twilight Blades
Stag is one of Taipan's subordinates and creations. He is a strong man clad in dark armour and he always wears an ominous helmet from which he stares his opponent down. He has a fighting style much like Groud -- he will simply stand up after being badly beaten. However, it is highly doubted they draw this power from the same source. Groud is able to do it to a far greater extent.

Groud

Born in 1145AL
It is not known where Groud came from. He does not have the ability to speak, and for that matter, doesn't seem too intelligent. He looks as a cross between an ogre, or a gorilla, or a large lizard, or something of that eerie nature. The only other thing known about him is that he always stands up after being knocked down. It is rumoured that Groud draws his power from an unknown place, and this grants him his unlimited vitality. He follows the orders of Bartyl and Pandora.

  • Neutral Odanon

Buroba

See Buroba. Born in 4922BD
In 4922BH, Buroba was born from He, a spirit of the earth. Buroba is also an elemental spirit, and Buroba was thus associated with wind. However, it wasn't even a year before Buroba began to take a disliking to the commands of his superiors. Of course, He and the others tried to persuade him, but he saw fit to break from their chain of command. Many say it is because Buroba is stubborn, and if his way isn't right, then there is no right way at all. Others say it's because Buroba didn't believe in harming others without reason, which is highly unusual for an Odanon. He fled to an island called Jindiara -- a long stretch of humid jungle and cold mountains. In the jungles, by a great lake, he made people in the likeness of himself. These people were called the Keid.

Rakiunaw

Born in 591AL

Rak

Born in 633AL
Rak is the daughter of She and L'orn, and she is also a spirit of light. This does not mean she does anything for Nikina, but it does mean she does not agree with Garukavar's ways. This is why she has proclaimed herself as neutral. She constantly aids anyone who opposes her "parents", but does not directly oppose them herself. She rarely deals with other Odanon, save her twin brother, Kyn. She prefers to dwell in South Ideitess, because this is where She's presence is strongest. She does not have any dedicated followers, and many priests want nothing to do with her simply because of where she came from. Priests of light prefer to worship someone like Leuvana. She has great power in areas that would be classed as creation, and is considered a sort of "princess" among elemental spirits.
