War Generals of The Enemy

Xelevikenar, from the Manamor name Sselehvikhehnah, are knlown as the war generals of The Enemy by the educated within Riiga. They are not common knowledge, but almost all authorities fear their arrival as warily as one would fear meteors falling from the sky; it is extremely unlikely, but not to be unaccounted for. According to information given by Nikina, The Xelevikenar were created by Garukavar not long after Ilertav spawned the Manamors to populate the temples. They were created to act as The Enemy's instructive presence on the battlefield, telling who to go where and when.

Nature and Characteristics

Since Xelevikenar have been encountered by humans, some is known of what they are like. Though they appear to be giant humans covered entirely in armour and clothing, they barely act human. They have never been heard speaking or making any vocal sounds, and appear to give instructions through simple gestures such as pointing. They stand roughly twice as high as the average man and all have three arms: two on one side and one on the other. In battle, they wield one or two weapons, and always use a shield. If they use a two-handed weapon, the shield will be on the side with two arms, but if they wield two weapons, the shield is always held by the side with one arm.

They each have a large gemstone in an obsidian brooch attached to the centre of their cuirass. The type of gemstone distinguishes which Xelevikenar one is osberving. The style of the helmet is also a telltale sign: each has their own helmet in the style of a certain animal. The final characteristics one must take note of is their unique choice of weapons and what each of their factions represents. Generally, when someone pledges allegience to The Enemy or Garukavar, they select for themselves a Xelevikenar to follow the lead of, depending, generally, on simple personal taste. Most choose by either the faction idea or the general's choice of weaponry.

Power and Origin

Though they are classed as humanoid monsters and not as Odanon, the Xelevikenar are most likely the most feared encountered monster of them all. Though they don't have the sheer size and bulk of the larger kinds of giakdon, and are bound to the land, unlike chimakor, they have unrivalled intelligence, skill, and magical strength so far as humans have recorded. Though they rarely use magic, they appear to be able to, and have been seen using both elemental magic and the more mysterious jaratk magic during battle. They do not seem to take time to think about what they are doing; everything is without hesitation and with no signs of any emotional barriers. As well, each wields up to two weapons imbued with mysterious energy, much like the enchanted weapons that the Truebloods forge.

Many have questioned, if Xelevikenar are so powerful, why doesn't Garukavar create entire armies out of them? The answer is simple when one observes how Garukavar "creates" anything at all in the first place. He does not. He can only destroy. He removes a part of himself, thus destroying himself (though his power still seems infinite) and gives it a new mind beneath The Enemy. He has only spawned a small number of monsters and granted them with the ability to breed amongst themselves, Garukavar has barely given away any of his power at all.

Xelevikenar appear to be the exception to the "breeding monster", though. Some scholars have speculated that they are stolen Supreme Shimteak of impressive ability (or perhaps a higher rank, now extinct), both twisted and empowered by Garukavar's destructive powers, and this would have happened somewhere between the creation of the temples and the birth of Renin. It is possible, they say, that Garukavar was only able to steal eight of them and convert them before the Shimteak put up their own defences to stop him. Another theory people make is based on a connection with the Eight Tempted by Votorimin, and suggest that, when each of those tempted humans were killed, a Supreme Shimteak descended to investigate, and Votorimin hence stole each of them away. This latter theory, however, cannot be possible, because it is known that the first Xelevikenar to be slain was long before the first humans. Indeed, it seems that the Xelevikenar came first, and then Votorimin tapped the power of each of their factions in order to find the weak point of all the first eight humans. Whatever the case, it seems that whatever Garukavar twisted into his Xelevikenar, he can find no more of.

It should be noted that the Dutri contains no mention of the creation of the Xelevikenar, and so it is thought that either their birth was too insignificant or it was described on the lost tablets.

The Xelevikenar

The following are descriptions of the six Xelevikenar, based on what Nikina has spoken. As mentioned above, one may notice similarities between what each general represents and the Eight Tempted that fell under the spell of Votorimin. One may also notice that there is no general for love/lust or humility/submission. It has been suggested that such generals existed, but they failed to live up to Garukavar's standards (as The Enemy was born after the Xelevikenar), and so were demolished or simply defeated very early in battle.

Rhknar GvoranShun

Onuxutex helmet. Right hand: shield. Left hand: sword. Second left hand: hammer.
Sword = Terihkoma, lost. Hammer = Atarigen, lost
Rhknar's faction uses the gold pyrite and represents strength.
Prefers human-inhabited south-West: South Ideitess.

The first and most infamous Xelevikenar, Rhknar was defeated during a war of epic proportion which swallowed all of Ideitess in flames and choked the sky with smoke. During this war, the Manamors marched countless forces against Central Ideitess after several discovered interrogation attempts made by Rhknar's minions. Before this, Rhknar terrorised the Manamor cities with merciless monster raids, each one tearing through any defence with ease. During this one particularly long war, the Manamors marched northward and met a force of monsters in the mountains. Rhknar was with them and hell broke loose. Rhknar eventually fell, they say, with no less than 5000 arrows stuck into him (this has been questioned, as it's not known whether Manamors used bows and/or arrows, but since there is nothing to disprove such a theory, the story stands as true), and the Manamors then cut off his head, buried his helmet deep within a cave, and took his sacred sword and hammer back to their city. Nothing more is known about the whereabouts of his weapons or Rhknar himself.

Kavika GvoranShun

Chimakor helmet. Right hand: staff. Second right hand: flail. Left hand: shield.
Staff = Khabem. Flail = Remiksen.
Kavika's faction uses the green reserorka and represents possession.
Prefers human-inhabited north-West: North Ideitess.

The most well-known of the living Xelevikenar, Kavika is said to dwell in the Engis Woods, mustering forces for countless years before sending a minority up to Carson's Wall, only to be beaten back again. As his faction is concerned with possession, some believe that, when he encounters someone who has wandered down from the north, he captures them and locks them away instead of killing them.

Veriviet GvoranShun

Nuinrari helmet. Right and left hand: sword. Second left hand: shield.
Sword = Miesich.
Veriviet's faction uses the blue kijisilira and represents knowledge.
Prefers human-inhabited south-Central: North and South Tasif and Temanea.

Veriviet, unlike many of the other Xelevikenar, has been sighted by humans. He's said to prefer Gutreea Woods in North Tasif, which is why there are so few roads that go north of Nor Vastin and why nobody really travels up there. In the early time of Lyte, Veriviet once joined Karomaroc's Giakdon in a march against the city. He encountered Renin and they fought. Veriviet overwhelmed Renin with bizarre magic and attacks as powerful as a siege ram, but retreated when Ernamin came to his father's aid. The first encounter with Veriviet, however, is not recalled by most; more people prefer to tell of how Renin defeated Karomaroc rather than how Renin almost died at the hands of Veriviet. He hasn't been seen since he was sent to Mentiritis and imprisoned under Gabriel Idavio's watch.

Ashmah GvoranShun

Cmarla helmet. Right hand: axe. Second right hand: trident. Left hand: shield.
Axe = Ibhkimasula. Trident = Kornuhk.
Ashmah's faction uses the red carnelian and represents creativity.
Prefers human-inhabited north-Central: Huirnon.

Ashmah claims the northwestern corner of Huirnon, around the Charon River, where the fierce cold naturally drives out most humans. Nothing more is known about him.

Iethyer GvoranShun

Mavara helmet. Right hand: shield. Left hand: mace. Second left hand: halberd.
Mace = Vahmeaka. Halberd = Eangen, lost.
Iethyer's faction uses the black hematite and represents wonder.
Prefers human-inhabited south-East: North Nidonn.

Iethyer, it is said, has the hardest position out of the Xelevikenar, because Nikina's favourite place to be is North Nidonn. That said, it's known that Iethyer managed to team up with Lord Katahedra once he had taken over Belynsia, and they helped one another wreak havoc upon the surrounding lands. Sir William's story never told of an encounter with Iethyer, so it's believed he is still beneath the ruins of Anukafobaia.

Vigoruhn GvoranShun

Yrmbaro helmet. Right and left hand: hammer. Second right hand: shield.
Hammer = Vasteatagu.
Vigoruhn's faction uses the white latilheris and represents mortality.
Prefers human-inhabited north-East: Estall Bay.

Vigoruhn, to most, does nothing, but he plays a major part in a major rumour: It's told that he struck a bargain with Captain Arturo, a pirate, and lent him his fortress, now known as Fort Pyhuana. Most of this story makes sense, as Arturo has indeed been alive for an unreasonable amount of time -- over 800 years -- and his forces seem to replenish with unearthly speed. Because of this story, the fortress is widely feared and nobody, save the men and pirates of Arturo, has attempted to even go near it for a very long time.
