Hireos, Children of Nikina
Nikina, the child god of creation, has created many lesser gods and beings over time. These are called the Hireos. Eleven of them work under his command and are considered 'good'. Another ten have strayed from this rule. Though they do not precisely go against him, they have chosen a life void of the duty they were supposed to be born with. Either way, the children of the gods do not particularly like to interfere with the affairs of mortals, though some of the neutral Hireos tend to aid those who worship them.
IlertavSee Ilertav. Born around 16,000BDKnown as the Grand Behemoth, Ilertav is said to be the king of all animals, having been the first child of any god. It is also said he is a massive being, able to touch high clouds, and mostly resembles a lion with great black horns and majestic robes. He has the best sense of smell in Riiga, and can sense heightened emotion among mortals. It is also said he can tear holes in the material of the world and so nothing can escape his grasp. He is not loud or aggressive and speaks in an ancient tongue no mortal can understand. When he scrapes a hole in the sky, it rains, and when the clouds are beautiful, he is content. When lightning strikes, he is sad, and when strong winds blow, he moves. These are derived from scriptures in Hunnuklad. Ilertav created the form of Riiga soon after his creation. After he single-handedly defeated Raildon and Shyokro in battle, he created sixteen temples in celebration. The temples that were actually found by mortals were later used in worship, but some remained undiscovered. When most of the temples were attacked and often destroyed during The Darkness, Ilertav stepped onto mortal soil to stop whoever was doing it. He was encountered by an immensely strong Odanon called Murluron, also known as the Black Whale, but Ilertav sealed Murluron and threw his body into the depths of the sea. Ilertav soon went back into his watching place. Renin (Lord)See Renin. 13,376BD - died in 0 ErnaminBorn in 6171BD - died in 0Ernamin was a great warrior just like his father, Renin, but he was tainted by Votorimin at a young age and thus developed quite a strong sense of pride. All of his family but him had joined the Paladins, and the only reason he didn't join was because he thought he was beyond orders and factions. He would seldom share such thoughts, though. Most of the time, he was a considerate and kind man. He was killed when he and his father tried to defeat Murluron. (See above for more details) Erinduo (Lord, Master)Born in 3887BD - died in 249ALThe first Master Paladin was a great fighter before he became a member of the order. Erinduo was the type of person to be on a horse in a field, exploring, training, spending time with himself, yet he never turned down a reason to celebrate. Erinduo married a woman called Aniyah but it was some time before they had a child. When Renin was slain by the Black Whale in the year 0, Erinduo took the human title of Lord and kept his Paladin title of Master. He was killed by Tokjalyo when the strongest Templars invaded their headquarters at Etalz and Lyte and all of Central became democratic. Radian (Holy Master)See White Dragon. Born in 2892BDThe only one to ever hold the rank of Holy Master Paladin, Radian was always a man of books and ideas. He was Renin’s younger son but was not a great fighter like his brother. He is the one who approaches great warriors and presents them with an offer to become a Paladin and fight for a greater good. He is generally a subtle man, but when given the opportunity to speak his mind or give a lecture, he talks days and nights away. Nobody has ever seen him fight, though it is rumoured to be skilled in martial arts. Radian also has the ability to transform into a dragon with white scales, much like Pandora can transform into the black dragon, but nobody has ever witnessed Radian doing so. He used to say that it simply hasn't been necessary to do so, but since he vanished from the public scene, people have begun to think differently. MyfanvyBorn in 2003BDMyfanvy is a role-model for women all over Riiga. Also called the Mother Goddess, she is kind and gentle, yet strong, resilient, unyielding, and intelligent. She appears as a tall blonde woman in gowns of extravagant nature, and it's said she lives alone in a small house somewhere near snow. She chose a mortal life long ago, though she will never have the gift and burden of natural death like normal mortals do. Ahartui (King, ArchProphet)Born in 155BD - died in 752ALAhartui was the 4th king of Phedailin and he ruled from 266AL to 752AL. He was the father of Erertoga and Daedalus, brother to Myfanvy and Erinduo, son of Ernamin, and husband to Queen Maia. Being the first Hireos king of North Nidonn, Ahartui's presence raised the surrounding kingdoms to new heights, as suddenly, they felt so much stronger with a Hireos king. Certainly, Ahartui was a man of grandness. He was known as both a King, an ArchProphet, and a powerful mage. He was excellent at both swordsmanship and numerous kinds of magic, and so is considered one of the greatest kings of Phedailin. However, he was so sure of his own ability, he underestimated a great enemy called Jaugevim and was killed during the Desert Storm battle. GideonSee Gideon. Born in 80ALErertoga (King)Born in 453AL - died in 897ALPrinx Duos (High Priest)See Prinx Duos. Born in 760ALPrinx Duos is the current High Priest of Phedailin's temple order, known as the Order of Dualkedor, and situated in Hunnuklad. Daughter of Erertoga, sister to Sigmund, and mother of Srafel Duom, Prinx was supposed to be a princess of Phedailin. As a baby, she was handed to the temple to be taken care of because she was a product of Erertoga sleeping with another woman, which is unthinkable for a king of Phedailin to do. He ordered that she never would know about where she had come from, and she was raised to believe she was just an orphan training to be a priestess. When she was about 120 (still young for a Hireos) she fell pregnant. She was questioned about it once the priests noticed but the child had no father. The elder priests shrugged it aside for a while, remembering that she was in fact Erertoga's daughter, and that mistreatment of her would not seem favourable, no matter who Erertoga claimed his children to be. And so she gave birth to a boy and called him Srafel, and the boy grew up in the temple, quickly learning all of their faithful and magical ways. One day, when Srafel was nine years old, he overheard the king himself talking to an elder priest, saying that they had been ordered to move Prinx and her son to a temple in Laurondirin. During their conversation, they spoke briefly of Prinx's true past -- about how she was actually supposed to be the princess. Srafel was a clever child, and he was enraged, but he remained hidden. When the elder priest had left the room, Srafel killed his grandfather -- King Erertoga -- with the royal sword. By the time Prinx had found out what had happened, Srafel was already gone. The High Priest had returned and murdered Srafel, but was not executed. He was locked away in Lysaeum Tower in Jevithem Castle. The only reason he was not executed was because he claimed to act in defence of the king. Srafel became a Slayer by the order of Nikina, and Prinx was left with nobody. Her brother, Sigmund, took the throne, and she continued doing what she had been doing until she became the Head Priestess as she saw no point in trying to find her son.
KomulokonKomulokon is a leader of a race known to very, very few within Riiga. The elusive and ever-powerful Cullashin weremammoth race resides far to the south in the frosty wastelands and Komulokon is their leader and creator. Said to be as a giant bipedal mammoth with six tusks, the beast man is feared as both a common villain in fictional stories for children and as a real threat to the brave explorers who venture far southward. It's said his raw power rivals that of the strongest deities. Only the suicidally brave explorer dreams of stumbling across this ill-tempered monstrosity.Leuvana (Queen)Leuvana is the Mother Sage, and the best way to describe her and her ways, excluding appearance, is an angel. Though she considers herself neutral and does not 'fight for good' as the good Hireos do, she aids all mortals who plead for it and who also worship her by living pure lives. It is said she is the mother of the divine Trueblood race and so she appears as one, with long crimson hair, a body of fur, deep blue eyes, and the other typical qualities. She excels at Light and healing magic and it is said that whenever anyone casts such magic that the power is coming from her.Enkhaedis (King)Born in 7575BDThough the Truebloods were created by Leuvana, Enkhaedis is their Father (King) and Sarkha is their Mother (Queen). Enkhaedis is a Trueblood of great presence and power. He wields a razor staff and wears deep red cloaks and his body is heavily ornate with golden trinkets and jewellery. He has two sons and lives in Tlenrian palace, occasionally paying tribute to Leuvana through the temple there. ArastoiBorn in 1650BDJaugevimBorn in 813BDIusdihoBorn in 340ALDaedalus Talos (General)Born in 558ALSon of Ahartui, husband to Elsa, father to Dandre and brother to Erertoga, Daedalus was born in North Nidonn but when he was 32 he sailed westward to Central when he had received word that Lyte had become democratic and the order of the Paladins had stopped growing. The council of Lyte and the higher ranked Paladins argued constantly, and had apparently been doing so since Lord Erinduo was killed in 249AH. Ahartui was known as a wise prophet, sometimes called the ArchProphet, and he foretold that Daedalus would find a kingdom to rule elsewhere, as Erertoga would rule Phedailin and North Nidonn when Ahartui passed away. Sure enough, when Daedalus heard that Central had no leader, he sailed there and claimed that he was the grandchild of Lyte's previous lord. The council was not hesitant to hand the power of Central over to Daedalus, as it was indisputable that he was indeed a Hireos and quite powerful. There was proof of this when Bartyl and Pandora tried to do what Daedalus was trying to do. Daedalus defeated Pandora after she had transformed into the Black Dragon, and he had Bartyl sealed deep in an underground prison. The citizens wanted to be rid of the council, and there were almost no disputes against Daedalus ruling after his impressive show of strength. They had been hoping for another Lord Renin, and they believed Daedalus was the closest they could get. Aside from this, the laws clearly stated that Daedalus was supposed to rule because of his lineage. However, once Daedalus began to earn the trust of his people, he made some changes. Because he was a neutral Hireos and thus didn't allow worship of Nikina, Paladins (who slowly went into hiding) were depicted as weak by a new order called The Guards. A vast majority of people turned and joined The Guards, as they were convinced that there was no future in being a Paladin. Somehow, The Enemy had made himself very discrete and the people had little to fear. Many years later, in 1171AL, a year after Gideon was killed in battle, The Guards made a shocking move and attacked the Paladins. Because both orders protected people from The Enemy, it is not known why Daedalus made such a rash command, but it was followed anyway. A large band of soldiers marched on Etalz, and a battle broke out. Somehow, Daedalus was slain, but both Dandre Talos -- Daedalus's son -- and Captain Murdock drove the Paladins into their temple again and The Guards returned home with their heads held high. Sigmund (King)Born in 629AL - died in 1101ALSon of Erertoga, father of Enos, and brother to Prinx Duos, Sigmund was the first neutral Hireos king of Phedailin in North Nidonn. Of course, the son of the king is the highest prioritised heir to the throne, and the only reason there was no uprising against Sigmund being crowned a neutral king of a Nikina-worshiping kingdom was because nobody knew. Citizens did not even know that their kings were Hireos. Nikina promised to extend the life of any of their kings, so they had no reason to believe they were anything other than divinely chosen humans descended from King Harha. His wife was Queen Janessa. Sigmund ruled for a steady 203 years until he died in 1101AH, thereafter Enos took the throne. People found him somewhat a relief from the very traditional ways of King Erertoga, though Sigmund's weakness was his egocentrism. Sigmund had utmost faith in himself and his power, for he was a very formidable swordsmen, as are most kings by tradition, and he also changed Phedailin's colours from purple and gold to blue and gold. Some say it is something he and Erertoga had planned since Sigmund was young. Erertoga knew he had made mistakes, and urged Sigmund to make amends with the people by constantly assuring his son that he was grand enough to rule the kingdom flawlessly. This change is represented by the change in emblem colours. This is said to be the beginnings of Sigmund's superior personality. Nonetheless, it is undeniable that Sigmund ruled Phedailin to the best of his ability. Enos (King)Born in 1005ALDandre Talos (General)Born in 1095AL |
