Ancient Scripture
When humans found
Hunnuklad, they found with it numerous scriptures. The greatest of these was one titled Dutri, written in what is believed to be a simplified version of Manamor. None could translate it and none have been able to ever since, but when Nikina read out its contents in one sitting (he said he would never read it again), twenty-one scribes worked together to get it down in writing and inscribed it into stone in English so that it could not be changed. For more, see the entire
Dutri history article. It is divided into 21 sections, each with their own piece of stone wall.
Dutri
1 Hkorgenahd is all and none, and was there before forever began. His thought was divided into two.
Half of his thought was creation, and in its eyes were four colours visible, and each part of this spectrum was as its four bearings. Where there was light and energy, there was Nikhinah, shining green like saplings in the earth. Where there was spirit and soul, there was Likhssandeh, bright as the sun. Where there was peace and choice, there was Hadrinaeltrios, glowing red with fierceness and loyalty. Where there was birth and growth, there was Mohakhssamiliah, shimmering blue like a crystal ocean.
2 Half of his thought was destruction, and it had three heads. The head in the middle was named Garuukhavahriehs, and from his voice came the conversion and movement of life energy from being into non-being and from where it is to where it is not. The head to the right was named Ruukhrahvuumakhooron, and from his voice came hatred and vulgarity and dishonesty and shallowness. The head to the left was named Miruukhavikhneaon, and from his voice came manipulative words of apprehension and false desperation.
3 But both thoughts existed; therefore both thoughts were in harmony, for there would be no half without half and no light without shadow.
Tempests with the colour of darkness boiled beneath Hkorgenahd, and Nikhinah held forth a flat palm, and from between hoary clouds of chaos and thunder, crimson was streaked, and horns shaped like lightning emerged from the core and with it two spheres of light, beaming with brilliance; thus they set eyes on the Biheamohhk Gogonmon, and they named him Iletahv.
4 Iletahv opened apart his jaws, set with teeth of diamonds, and his voice rang through what is now all, and beneath him a stone was set of immeasurable proportion. This stone he named Reage, and with great claws he scoured the land, creating mountains and valleys, with his breath he cast life upon the world, and trees grew where the soil held essence, and then he shed tears and they gathered in the lowest parts, and oceans were formed. Hkorgenahd separated all from none with an impassable wall of deliberation that one could not move through unless one of the three willed for it to be so.
5 The deep began to boil with terrible sound and coldness grew in the water, turning it to ridges of ice, and from a whirlpool came a beast of blue scales and eyes of sapphire. At the same time, a mountain burst open and fire and smoke poured out, and from the inferno came a beast of red scales and eyes of ruby. The beast of blue was named Chiokhroh and the beast of red was named Raeldon by Garuukhavahriehs, and they came to his side and he laid a hand on each of their heads, and they did his bidding as do loyal dogs.
6 Chiokhroh and Raeldon traversed all of Reage and left trails of fire and ice where they went, and this angered Iletahv, who came to Garuukhavahriehs and protested against the actions of his beasts. Fire and ice engulfed Iletahv but he fought back. Thus the three of them were locked into a great battle. Though the Biheamohhk Gogonmon stood higher than his two opponents, their heat and cold swirled and danced about and they tormented him with the breath of the underworld.
7 Suddenly, Iletahv became enraged, and he began to move faster than could be seen, and when he struck at his foes, he tore apart the wall between all and none and being and non-being flashed and flickered. Chiokhroh and Raeldon retreated in shame, admitting their defeat, and Iletahv came to Nikhinah, and they both rejoiced in Iletahv’s victory. Sixteen temples of stone were erected throughout Reage and these became populated. Four of these temples linked all to none and linked both to the core, and three of these four held in them mountains of fire and flight.
[The four missing portions here were destroyed. See the history of the Dutri for more information. Judging by the sequence of events, it is believed to contain more information about the race in the temples, and some time after, the birth of Renin and the first humans]
12 And so Garuukhavahriehs reached into the abyss of none and pulled forth gleaming claws of black and a crest of blood feathers and eyes darker than shadow, and as this twisted figure set foot on the black marble it was named Vetorimin, who was to be the enemy of all mortals. He took into his hand a broken blade made of unearthly metal; the same blade that Reanin used to slay a beast that threatened his people. Where the length of the blade once was, red electricity surged and pulsed, and with this blade; Garuukhavahriehs, with Vetorimin on his left; spawned a whole manner of beasts:
13 The lessermost are the small people of the grey wolf, clawed, fanged, and clad in crude armour and wielding crude weapons. Above them were the single-horned beasts of air, with feathers and fur and coiling talons. And then there were the giant figures with axes as big as their bodies and horns like a goat. Next were the winged lions of death that were large, agile, and stronger than bison and bears. Then there were the stone-jawed lizards of sharp claw, thick scale, and long horn. More superior again were the wind giants of the sky, and at the top were the magicians of none. And these beasts were organised into armies, and they were scattered all over Reage, hence force Vetorimin attacked mortals relentlessly with these hideous beasts.
14 When Iletahv was in the south of Reage, he reached into the snow and took hold of two tusks, and as he pulled, four more tusks came, and with it, a colossal mound of tangled fur and stunted spines, and this beast set weary eyes upon Iletahv, who named it Khomoolokhon. The giant stood upon two legs and from the snow he pulled out more like himself, and they were sworn to wander the south and to guard it forever, and these people called themselves the Khuluchin.
15 When a creature died, the soul granted to it by Likhssandeh became static, and would wander to and fro over where its body lay, and the three decided that a spirit should go from the all to the none where it can await another existence. Wreathed in black and with chilling eyes, Iasrahnchia became the judge that decides when it is time for a soul to be separated from its body and whether or not this soul is allowed to pass through into none.
16 She was bound to the word of Vetorimin, the enemy of mortals, who was in turn bound to the word of Garuukhavahriehs, and the people feared her because of this, but the two halves are bound also to the will of the whole; the all and none, and so whatever she with chilling eyes decided would be deemed fair to the whole as she stood on the destructor’s right and he knew all that she would know.
17 As they do, the breath of ice and the breath of fire were competing for the sake of competing, and in one certain struggle they both became entangled in one another’s spells, and from this struggle came a storm, and arms of lightning reached across the skies and a hole opened up. From this opening came a beast of purple scale and eyes of amethyst, and this beast was named Gohrenkhu by Garuukhavahriehs. And so the fire and ice and lightning became three and all three of them sat under the hands of the destructor and did as he asked of them.
18 Nikhinah broke apart the heavens and from the radiance came an angel with golden fur, and she was named Liuvahna and she was taught the laws of light and energy by the child and with her will she had a son named Enkhaedis and he was taught the same as she was. The angel beasts travelled to the snow, where their brilliance was reflected tenfold and the warmth of their voices and power in their limbs commanded lesser ones to surface, and these lesser ones were the people of the angel beasts, and they lived away from humans and were granted undying verve.
19 As monsters of Vetorimin tormented the humans on Reage, Nikhinah saw to give birth to his own creatures of battle, and he made three of them. The warriors of gold and steel and ebony came from the ground and they wielded weapons of strength and marched on command, and they were called Chimteakh. In the skies flew winged lions with hooves and antlers of great deer, and they had two sets of thought, and they were dexterous, and they were called Laeogon.
20 And the greatest of all, Biheamohhk, children of the Biheamohhk Gogonmon, equal only to the mountain and to the sea and to the sky where they dwell. Like cows and bulls they feast on the vast fields, and like great Stone-Jaw they feed on the earth's dark shell. Hunters cannot approach them, for they know of none, and they can move without moving. They cannot be tamed, for the sea and the mountains and the skies do whatever they will. Their hearts are of hope, as they are the greatest of the land, and they withstand the mortal edge. Their eyes flare like the moon at night and they can speak to the core with their voices. They wear crowns of horns that shimmer with the light of the suns. Against their bodies swords are shattered and axes go blunt and spears snap and arrows are like raindrops.
21 And army marched against army away from eyes of humans, and Reanin became the first person to join his spirit to another when he saw that their war had been severely lessened.
Notes
Dutri: Contrary to belief, dutri does not mean 'word' or 'law' as one would assume, but rather, it means 'choice'.
Hkorgenahd: The god of balance: Forganad.
All and none: It is believed that 'all' refers to
Riiga (fortified by a later statement; "and his voice rang through what is now all") and none refers to
Adumbra.
Nikhinah:
Nikina, god of creation. Though it clearly states that Nikina is only his name when his eyes are green, today we use it to refer to any of his states.
Likhssandeh: Lexander. Nikina's name when his eyes are gold, also associated with the soul.
Hadrinaeltrios: Hadrinaltrios. Nikina's name when his eyes are red, also associated with peace (which is interesting considering that when his eyes are red, he is enraged and wishes only to fight. Perhaps it is their belief that peace can only come from fighting for it).
Mohakhssamiliah: Mohaxamilia. Nikina's name when his eyes are blue, also associated with birth and innocence.
Garuukhavahriehs: Garukavarius, now shortened to
Garukavar, god of destruction. According to this, he commands the movement of energy through the universe.
Ruukhrahvuumakhooron: Rukravumakoron. The aggressive-negative side to Garukavar, believed to be one of two of the worst mortal traits.
Miruukhavikhneaon: Mirukavikneon. The passive/aggressive-negative side to Garukavar, believed to be the second of the two worst mortal traits.
Biheamohhk Gogonmon: Behemoth Greatest. A title or rank given to Ilertav.
Iletahv:
Ilertav, stated here to be the creator of Riiga's physicality.
Reage: Riiga. The earth as mortals know it.
Chiokhroh:
Shyokro, beast of fire. One of three.
Raeldon:
Raildon, beast of ice. One of three.
Sixteen temples: There are not nearly this many known
temples in Riiga. And whoever populated them is believed to have written the Dutri.
The core: It is not known what this refers to, though it is assumed to be something near the middle of the planet.
Mountains of fire and flight: Again, it is not known what this refers to.
Vetorimin:
Votorimin, a personification of the corruption of humans and also the chosen enemy of all mortals. Many believe that he is
The Enemy.
Reanin:
Lord Renin, the first and greatest human.
The beasts of Garukavar are listed on his page in the same order they are described here, though nothing is known about the "wind giants of the sky" or the "magicians of none".
Khomoolokhon:
Komulokon, king of the Cullashin.
Khuluchin:
Cullashin, the weremammoth race in
South Riiga.
The three: Forganad, Nikina, and Garukavar, usually another way of saying a unanimous choice made by Forganad.
Another existence: Unknown. Perhaps some form of reincarnation.
Iasrahnchia:
Yasrantia, spirit of death.
Gohrenkhu:
Gorenku, beast of lightning. One of three.
Liuvahna:
Leuvana, spirit of light and Queen of the
Truebloods.
Enkhaedis:
Enkhaedis, Trueblood king.
Lesser ones: The Truebloods.
Chimteakh:
Shimteak, ghostly warriors of Nikina.
Laeogon:
Liogons, winged beasts of Nikina.
Biheamohhk:
Behemoths, giants of Nikina.
Joined his spirit to another: Thought to be marriage between Renin and Nia.
