Evora

The evora, also incorrectly called the edora or adora, is a giant primape most resembling a white or brown gorilla. They come in two varieties; one which lives in the snow and one which lives in mountainous areas: the rock evora and white evora, respectively. The rock evora can be found at the southern end of Jindiara, in the high, cold mountains. The white evora can be found on the remote regions of Yanuiri and Evealdinn.
Characteristics: Mature evoras can be over 2m at the shoulder and can weigh over 250kg. They have an oversized skull, ribcage, and arms, and their legs are quite stunted. They walk using their knuckles to support the body midstep. Though they appear to be squinting, its only heavy folds of tough skin around the eyes to protect them from the harsh wind. The two tufts of fur up and behind the eyes are actually parts of their ears. They have very good hearing and smell to compensate for their bad eyesight. They usually hear prey before they smell it, and smell it before they see it. By the time they can see it, they can usually taste it because they're eating it. Their fur is so thick and coarse that they live where most other animals would freeze to death.
Behaviour: Evora feed on almost any other animal smaller than them: seals, fish, arctic foxes, rabbits, and wolves. Their powerful arms and well-developed but peculiar style of running them allow them to match the average speed of wolves and foxes, but to catch quicker and smaller animals such as rabbits, they usually track them to their burrows and then tear up the ground with barely any effort. Evora are solitary animals, and almost nothing is known about their social sense. Two evora seem to only want to fight one another -- possibly for territory or food. Like most primapes, they are very intelligent, and have the ability to avoid traps set by hunters. Due to their large lungs and heads, they can make calls that are as loud as ten men screaming at the top of their lungs. They use such calls to stun offending animals, such as angry terupi or large bears.
Strength: Evora are powerful and formidable to any animal. Their sheer strength, intelligence, mobility, size, and senses make them the target of only the most brave or mad hunters -- both human and natural. To attack, they can bite, pummel, or slash, though they usually prefer to pummel.
