Winged Carnivores

Feathered Wings

Liogons

Though Liogons were originally only creatures of Nikina (meaning he created them to act as steeds for his followers) they are now wild creatures native to the mountains of South Ideitess. The Liogon, originally written as Laeogon, looks as a male lion does with a thick mane, only twice as big, and has two large wings that are brown-bronze in colour. It is the only creature in Riiga that has feathered wings and four legs. Liogons also have antlers like a deer and also have hoofed forelegs, much like a deer. Their scaly tails have snake heads on the ends that are said to have their own brains and also act as a second pair of eyes for the Liogon -- another anomaly of Nikina. It is not known exactly where Liogons live, as they fly so high into the mountains, nobody can follow them, and they do not carry anyone up there. Despite this, tame Liogons do often act as transport, and The Empire has stables especially for the creatures. Some are also armoured and ridden into battle, though Liogon riders are so formidable that they hardly ever get to fight.

Chimakors

Chimakors (also called Scouts) were initially creatures of Garukavar and they were supposed to do only his bidding, as the other creatures of Garukavar do, but they have since broken off into the wild. Chimakors lead solitary lives and thus do not live in groups as Liogons do.

Much like Liogons, Chimakors are most similar to lions, though they are perhaps three times as big. They have no manes, but have very thick fur and three vertical spines running down their forehead. Their upper canines are very strong and long and protrude from the mouth when its closed. They have two arc-shaped horns coming from each cheek attached to the upper jaw behind and below the eye, and they point forwards. They have two large black wings much like a bat and they are capable of fast flight, though they are not as nimble in the air as Liogons are. Their tails are about as long as their torsos and they are quite thick. They have four spikes on the end of their tails, with two on each side. They fight using their teeth, sharp claws, tail spikes, and cheek horns. As Chimakor sightings are almost Riiga-wide, it is not known where they live and breed.

Uniphons

The Uniphon is another creature of Garukavar. They are much smaller than Chimakors, generally being no larger than a wildcat, and have two bat-like wings. Though they are mammals, they have bird-like heads with jagged beaks and a long crest of dark feathers that trails down the back of the neck. They also have a single horn protruding forwards from their forehead that they often use to stab their prey with. They stand on four legs; the front two are like that of an eagle, and the back two are pawed. They have tails like lions with tufts on the ends and though they have a crest of feathers, the rest of the body is furry and brownish in colour. Again, like Chimakors, it's not known where they live, but Curin has the most reported sightings. They are very fast both on the ground and in the air, and eat almost anything that is large enough for them to carry through the sky. They hunt and travel in packs and live in nests high up on rocky places.
