Black blood

Atramentous is an unnatural disease that is suposedly created by
Sharnan. The town
Amaiga has the only recorded incidence of this disease, and it is also considered as a contagious plague. The blood of the victims turns black due to blood cells dying and not being recycled in the body. Body systems lose effectiveness and victims are often weak and frail. If the disease lasts for over 20 years or so, organs begin to fail. Erratic vomiting usually follows and victims would become bed-ridden. Eventually, the victims would die, usually within a couple of months. There is no known cure. The earliest symptom is any trace of black blood in the system.

Muscular headaches
|
|
|
Brainblister is a zoonotic infection that attacks the top of the body (head, neck, shoulders) and tenses the respective muscle areas, causing muscular headaches. The headaches are often intense enough to make the victim very sensitive to light and noise, and moving the mouth and/or speaking are often difficult. It is obtainable only through being bitten by an infected animal. Such an animal has to live in a very cold climate, because the virus organisms thrive in snow and ice. Though painful, the virus is easily defeated by a healthy body in a few days of bedrest, usually after getting past a high fever and much sleep.

The muteness is usually triggered by increased blood pressure and heightened emotions, headaches, lack of nutrients, and extreme heat or cold. Demimuteness is usually evident at birth. A baby that does not cry as other babies normally do is diagnosed as a demimute. It is an extremely rare condition.

Stone Fever is an infectious disease that is best diagnosed by a sudden high fever. Other symptoms include a weakness in the joints, shaking eyes, short term memory loss, shaking hands and/or feet, and the victim may also stop breathing for a number of minutes due to confused signals in the body. A person suffering from Stone Fever will feel most of these (besides the fever, which comes on quite suddenly) within four or five days of being infected by any contact with infected flies or similar. Cures include a mixture involving
tarantan roots and
forka flowers, but both plants are quite rare -- even in tropical regions. After a week or two of suffering from Stone Fever, a victim would most likely die.

Warning symptom:

Heat in chest

Sundust is when a victim inhales excessive amounts of hot sand, which scolds and inflames the lungs. In very serious cases, internal bleeding occurs and death is quite certain, but most victims survive with damaged lungs and painful breathing. Because lungs are so delicate, and there is no practical way of treating burnt lungs, crude desert-folk often get victims to "choke" on icy water. Of course, this treatment is almost as dangerous as suffering from Sundust. If the victim manages to cough up the water, the water cools and helps to heal tissue scarring and also removes dust particles. There is a rumoured treatment that involves chewing on leaves of
fleurean.
