The ligupine is a hardy tree with very hard seedpods and spiny leaves. Despite the nut-like appearance of the pods, they are not edible. They can handle many climates, but prefer warmer weather.

The ghundar is a tough tree that is quite dull in colour and bears many spiny dark brown seed pods. Its masses of slender needles and spiny pods make for a lot of ground litter, and it can easily suffocate any smaller plants growing beneath it.

The hajog grows its seeds in clusters along branches, between leaves. Though it is a dense and somewhat uncomfortable-looking small tree, it bears aromatic flowers in season.
