Long Snout Reptilia

Crocodilia

South Tasif, north Jindiara, Estall Bay

Grandoise Riixaldor

The Grandoise Riixaldor is the king of all reptiles and is called riixaldor by the Keid, meaning "large lizard king". The riixaldor can grow 10-12m long, from the tip of its snout to the end of it's tail. No doubt that they can grow even larger, and some Keid have claimed to have seen them longer than 45ft, though such claims have yet to be proven and are often argued against. Their head alone is around 2m long, their tails are around half of their total length (6-5m) and the body is whatever is left (which is usually around 3-4m). An adult male Riixaldor can weigh up to 10 tons, but the average weight is around 8 tons and is about the maximum weight for females. These crocodiles can move up to 60k/h on land, but only in very short bursts as they tire quickly. They can swim up to 80k/h, and can hold their breath for up to 10 hours if they remain inactive. It is estimated that the riixaldor can live from an average of 170 years up to 200 years.

The riixaldor live in the warm, humid tropics of northern Jindiara. They are presumed native to Jindiara and have never been sighted anywhere else in Riiga. From what is known, they have similar behaviour to crocodiles, although riixaldor don't form packs or groups. They are solitary and individual reptiles that cruise the waterways around on their own until they find a mate. Once this happens, they then stay together and have a family, protecting their young until they are old enough to fend for themselves.

As cold-blooded predators, they can survive long periods without food, and rarely need to go actively hunting. The riixaldor's bite strength is up to 18,000 pounds per square inch, comparing to just 3,000 for a normal crocodile, 100 psi for a large dog, 350 psi for a large shark, or 800 psi for a hyena. They have not been known to attack or kill Keid, but that's not to say they haven't. These crocodiles have armoured plates that tile their back from the back of their head to about half way along their tail. The plates come up to a bony spine in the center and get bigger as they progress along it's body. Some people say that riixaldors are distant relatives of the legendary lizards, Raildon and Shyokro, though this is an interesting rumour at best.
