Central Ideitess

Central Ideitess is a large area situated between Carson's Wall in North Ideitess and the Manehreians mountains to the north of Trelinia in South Ideitess. To most, Central Ideitess is simply a dense mountain range that contains no more than any other mountain range, but to the people in the West, it contains the most terrible dangers known to mortals. All that is known by explorers is that, if one were to head south from Carson's Wall, after a long and wretched beach, one would come to an incredibly dense and deadly forest, full of strange monsters and creatures. Those who have gotten through this forest have never returned, though some who were near the end said they saw a lake through the trees, but decided to retreat so that they could share their stories.

The other way into Central Ideitess is via the Gate of Erivalfa. This giant gate, built long ago by an unknown race, is locked shut, and the key is supposedly in the possession of the emperor of South Ideitess. The Empire uses threats of unlocking the gate to keep the people under control. Though the gate has never reported to have been opened, any official of South Ideitess will say that it has been opened several times, as this is how the emperor obtains monsters which he keeps locked away.

Central Ideitess is infamous for its treacherous cliffs; several sheer drops have been observed where the ground seems to stop and drop vertically for no obvious reason, and then continue as normal. Often, the cliffs are higher than any manmade building, and can stretch so wide that it would take several days to walk around. The violent landscape is only the first feature of this country which makes it so dangerous. As well as these cliffs, cold seasons bring about low level clouds which drift along the ground. These clouds move fast enough to be felt by skin, but prolonged exposure causes a painful burning sensation. The burning may continue for several hours and it has been known to tear skin, cause excessive bleeding, and sometimes even rot limbs in extreme cases. Ideal protection involves several layers of leather and sturdy metal. Metal that has been tarnished by this acid fog has a distinct texture and ironically becomes quite valuable if the wearer survives the fog. Many people tell of a strange sound which comes from Central Ideitess. There is a deep humming, more often felt than heard, which seems to be central to the area of Manehreians which has been named but has never been seen. Often, one is not aware of the noise, but sometimes it grows so strong that it can cause headaches and nausea. It has been heard and felt as far north as Carson's Wall and as far south as Hieril.

History

When humans first venturered into North Ideitess in about 5003BD settled all about the fields, but it wasn't until a few years later it was discovered that they discovered there were other beings that dwell in the lands. Despite its lush appearance, creatures of The Enemy often venture from a hiding place between North and South Ideitess, known as Central Ideitess. King Forfax was quick to instill a new order known as the Legionites. In 4990BH, in a dream, Nicolas Carson awoke saying he had seen what is now known as a Supreme Shimteak which was accompanied by three Great Shimteak. Though they did not speak, Carson said he felt they were telling him to build a wall, and they pointed on a map to where it should be built. Due to Carson's great reputation, very few argued against his request to have the wall built (Now called Carson's Wall) and two days after it was completed, a large army of monsters marched up from the south but was eventually beaten by the humans manning the wall. If the wall had not been built, the army would have gone through the land beyond and killed many more people. However, within a week of the army being defeated, Sage Carson died of unknown causes.

The people to the north expanded all over North Ideitess's rolling fields and large lakes, and they successfully held off wave after wave of creatures. It didn't take them long to figure out that the attacks would not stop. They were so close to a dangerous place -- the unspoken Central Ideitess -- but they believed they could stay and live in peace behind the safety of Carson's Wall. A few times, monsters broke through and wreaked havoc upon the people, but they were always beaten down by the vigilant Legionites.

The Dutri does not state anything about Central Ideitess, or such a dwelling that Garukavar and/or The Enemy reside in, or such a spawning point for monsters, either.

Garukaver and The Enemy

The Order of Dualkedor has people believe that Garukavar, The Enemy, and other powerful Odanon like to dwell in Central Ideitess, just as Nikina likes to dwell in Hunnuklad. One could easily assume this to be true, because it certainly explains the abundance of monsters that emerge from this strange region. Because Garukavar creates more and more monsters for The Enemy to utilise, in theory, they have to come from somewhere. This does not, however, explain how land-bound monsters such as Folang appear overseas. A Giakdon has not been sighted out of West for thousands of years. The Order says that Folang burrow under the earth to get across oceans, but this is rarely believed.

Nikina himself does, however, tell people not to go to Central Ideitess, or if they did, it should be because they wish an early death upon themselves. Many confused people have gone past Carson's Wall and headed south in hopes of striking a bargain with either Garukavar or The Enemy, because they believe they have something of value, but none have ever returned or been sighted thereafter.
